Meeting with IMC Colombia

IMC Reunion

In June 2022, two of our trustees flew to Colombia to visit family. Whilst there, they took the opportunity to meet with Nancy and Maicol, the director and social worker of our partner charity, IMC Colombia.

Leah says, "It was fantastic to hear firsthand about the work taking place, as a lot has changed over the last few years. We learnt about the project in Los Alpes, an unofficial settlement (known locally as an 'invasion') on the side of a mountain in Bogota. People started constructing their makeshift houses there around 30 years ago, and the children living there are extremely vulnerable. A lady from a Church linked to the project cooks for the children three times a week, and the families receive weekly visits from a pastor and the IMC social worker. IMC is currently supporting 31 families in Los Alpes, including 70 children. Only 5 of these families have a father present."

Leonardo says, "Colombia is still facing challenges after the pandemic. There is much need and we noticed a number of Venezuelan refugees, who survive by begging or selling things on public transport. Sadly, there was also an increase in the number of children we saw begging on the street, some even with children of their own. Whilst we were out there, the presidential elections took place. Please pray for the future of the country."
